Where Have I Been, Where Am I Going?
No real time for writing lately - lots of after school activities and plenty to keep me busy during the days. Things are going well - 19 days til the big 40! Can you believe it.
Today I'm taking my son to get some dark spots on his skin looked at. Hopefully I'll be told they are just moles or freckles. But, skin cancer runs in his Daddy's side of the family - so I want to be safe. We're also going to get multiple warts taken care of. I'm really nervous for him on this. He has many on his "sucking" thumb", another on the other thumb, and a few others just kind of around - on a wrist, etc. I'm thinking 6 will be gone. And that only counts the conglomerate of them on his sucking thumb once - that whole knuckle looks like one big wart.
So, if anyone has some extra time to say a little prayer today, please say one for Legare. That we can get these ugly warts gone with little pain - that he will be brave and not hurt. That these brown spots are nothing major. I'm really nervous about today's appointment. You know, it's my baby going to the doctor - the mommy mode is kicking in. Maybe a little prayer for my peace would be in line too.
Legare has been so brave lately - the little guy has given up desserts and candy for Lent. He's had a few really big temptations, but he has done very well. You would all be so impressed; he does love his "baked goods and candy".
Julia is in a talent show on Friday. Singing a Taylor Swift song. SOLO. And doing a cute, shorter rendition of Evolution of Dance with some classmates. The 8th grade sponsors the show as a fundraiser and the 8th grade teacher heard her practicing yesterday and told her that he had no idea that such a wonderful voice was down there inside of her. She was really excited about that compliment. I'm sure I'll have some pictures for you (if I can remember the camera).
I'll also be attending the opening gala (flip flop casual - yay) at the newly renovated Holiday Inn on Folly Beach this Thursday. The renovations are fantastic. Windows (walls of windows) were added so that you could actually see the ocean from the lobby and restaurant, and it's decorated in an art deco kind of style. People are saying it could fit in at South Beach. If you're that way, you should definitely check it out. Eat at the new restaurant, Blu. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and will be hosting a big Sunday brunch soon. I've already eaten there twice and the food is yummy and the atmosphere is great!
update: Appointment went well - no skin cancer! A cream-type medicine went on 10 warts (7 on the sucking thumb alone) that should blister in a few days and cause them to dry up and slough off. NO BURNING! YAY...prayers answered! We go back in 3 weeks to see if we need to do it one more time.
