Preparing for Easter Eggs
Placed 18 eggs in the pot to boil.
I swear at least one of the eggs was "chirping".
I even called each family member over to hear it to make sure I wasn't just going crazy.
Funny how the sound made me feel kind of mean.

"My Roots" was a journal that was my 3rd grade class project. There's not much in it. It was designed to be a study of my family - to help me understand where I came from and to help me appreciate my family. My wonderful 3rd grade teacher (that's not sarcasm - I really loved her!) would give us a title and let us write. I have copied all excerpts in their full grammatical glory. If it's wrong below, it was wrong in "My Roots". Here's another excerpt.
"My Role In The Family" P. 4
These are sometings I am resposible for: making up my bed, keeping my room clean, doing my homework, running my bathwater, minding my manners, watching the way I act, doing errands for my parents, watching Joseph, washing the bathroom, and taking care of things. and I take care of my cat.

Topic 3rd grade journal
Got this idea from Nancy's blog. These are results from what happens when you Google your name and the word "need" or "needs".
Anne needs: a job
Anne needs: to retire (isn't this the exact opposite of needing a job?)
Anne needs: miracle
Anne needs: some attention
Anne needs: to be thick skinned (o.k….this is starting to get funny)
Anne needs: the loo (how’d Internet know I was a 'gotta go right now' girl?)
Anne needs: to check her facts.
“Anne's needs are unexpectedly fulfilled when she meets up with sailor Jim ... Anne needs a man in her life to take care of her romantic and sexual needs ...”
Hhmm.

Topic fun stuff, ponderings
"Whats [sic] In a Name" P 3.
My name is Julia Suzanne Becnell [sic]. My mother and father named me. I was named after my aunt Susan and my aunt Julia and my mom. My name means Julia - (Latin - Greek) Downy face, youthful. Suzanne - (Hebrew) Lily. My nick name is Anne. My mother gave me the name Anne because she likes the name Anne. She couldn't name me Julia because I had an aunt named Julia. She couldn't name me Susan because I had and aunt named Susan. I would like to change 1 part of my name. I would like to change Anne because people tease me. But I love the name Anne.
OK....there are so many misspellings that I'm not even keeping up with the [sic] anymore. You're just going to have to know that if something is incorrect - that's the way it was in the journal.
Also - apparently, I was meaning to say that "She couldn't call me Susan (or Julia).". Not, "She couldn't name me Susan (or Julia)". And I failed to mention how part of my name is "after my mom". Her middle name was Ann. She added the "e" to mine (because it's a letter better - just joking - no not really - ha).
And the picking I was receiving was in the form of "Little Orphan Annie", "Annie Fannie", or just plane "Annie". And I really don't think I loved the name Anne at the time I wrote this post. I think I just didn't want to hurt my mother's feelings.
Come to find out though - I really do like the name Anne now. It took writing a paper about my name in college for it to dawn on me that Anne was a pretty good moniker.

Topic 3rd grade journal, fun stuff
O.K...just got inspired (see previous post)!
My mother found my 3rd grade journal (a class project) and shared it with my daughter last night. There's not much in it. It was designed to be a study of my family - to help me understand where I came from and appreciate my family. My wonderful 3rd grade teacher (and that's not sarcasm - I really loved her!) would give us a title and let us write. She even gave us a list of questions to ask our grandparents for interviews to learn about the past.
I got an S+++ on my efforts. She even gave me the coveted "Excellent", Top Hat Frog, stamp of approval. My favorite of the "Excellent" stamps in her covey of stamps. Mainly because I loved and collected frogs as a young girl (live ones as well as statues and stuffed animals).
Here are a list of Titles that I was working with:
Family Tree
Family Names
Whats [sic] In a Name
My Role In The Family
Kids Nowadays Have It Easy
My Father's Better Than yours [sic]
An Interview With my Grandmother
An Interview With my Grandfather
How my Family Spends Time Toghether [sic]
The rights To Privacy
T.V. Familie's [sic]
The Boss
The Thing That Changed Our Family
How I Want to be Rememberd [sic]
Topics beginning at "My Role In The Family" were all written in cursive. I know things were spelled incorrectly - therefore the addition of [sic] to let you know that I know - remember - I was only in the 3rd grade.
So....where to start? How 'bout the beginning. And since I can't duplicate the picture of the "Family Tree", I'll start with "Family Names". Though I know you can't wait to hear "My Father's Better Than yours". Again- the teacher's title, not mine.
"Family Names" P. 2
Julia Suzanne Becknell (1969 - )
Concord, North Carolina
Jack R. Becknell Jr. (1943 - )
Concord, North Carolina
Rebecca Ann Stokes Becknell Jr. (1948 - )
Concord North Carolina
Jewell Etoil [sic - Etoile] Slawson Stokes (1913 - )
Noxapator Mississippi Soth Carlina [sic for two reasons - should have been NC]
Joseph Gray Becknell (1973 - )
New Bern North Carolina
Albert Berton [sic] Stokes (1912 - )
Kemper Mississippi Soth Carolina [sic - should be NC]
Elizabeth Agnes Wilkins Becknell ( - )
Gaffney North Carolina
Jack R. Becknell Sr. ( - )
Gaffney North Carolina
As you can see - I didn't do too much research into the birth year of my Dad's parents. I was lucky that I had all of my grandparents at that point. I even had a set of living Great Grands...why they weren't included, I don't know. Could be because I ran out of room on the page (this was one neatly written and spaced page I'll tell you). Could be I was running out of time and this darned page was due! I was a procrastinator way back then too.
In any event, I have no idea why they weren't included on this page.
In the future - I'll share some entries with you.

Topic 3rd grade journal, fun stuff
I'm inspired to write absolutely nothing in particular.
But I feel like I've done a relatively good job of "staying regular" as of late and felt like there needed to be something new to read.
...
....
.....
......
.......
...I just don't know what that is going to be.
Life has been relatively normal, easy going, with nothing earth shattering, cute or exciting to report. There has been another death in the family this week (the 3rd funeral for me since November), but that certainly doesn't promote smiles on a rainy, dreary, post day.
So, for lack of something better to post: this - lack luster, conglomerate of words - is unfortunately going to be my post for the week.
Maybe I'll go to You Tube to try to find a funny video to inbed......
O.K, found one. Even if you don't like cats, this will be sure to make you giggle at least once.
Have a great, smiley, rainy day!
