Mark it on the Calendar

My son has had an uncanny way of making my birthday's special throughout the years.
It started 7 years ago when I found out he was a boy on my birthday. And last year, he lost a tooth on my birthday.

Well, you will not believe what my son uttered this birthday!
Saturday evening had our whole family unit sharing in a long evening of wedding ceremony and reception - which included a fantastic band, plenty of dancing and yummy food.

When Legare was ready to go home, he was ready! As he always is when his clock strikes 12 - regardless of what time it really is or what everyone else's clock is saying. Bryan very valiantly tried to redirect him so to give big sis Julia some more time - she was having a ball and we were trying to get to the garter and bouquet throw.

At one point when Bryan was trying to get him focused on something new, Legare outed with this bombshell....
"Dad. I am ready to go home. I am tired of listening to loud music. I am tired of dancing. And I am tired of eating.".

That's right - for the first time in his life - he was tired of eating!

Mark it in your calendar - this moment may never come again.
However, with it being something to add to the list of "things I do for Mamma's birthday", I don't know that I will let him forget it anytime soon.

I've Been Tagged! again

I was just tagged by Kat. I have given some random facts about me before. But here are 10 more.

1. 1 1. Nicknames: Annie, Annie B, Annie Fannie, Fanny Butt, Wide Load (this was from cute guys in high school – but I wasn't really a Wide Load - I was actually skinny and curvy), Hot Friday Night (also in high school because I fainted and was having heat exhaustion on the Friday night of the Sertoma Football Classic – get your head out of the gutter - this is not because I was skinny and curvy. My parents were even present when this one got put on me. So were the EMTs and a few coaches).

2. 2 2. My drag queen name is Cocoa Stokes. (Taking the name of your first pet and your mother’s maiden name – try it – it’s pretty funny. What's your drag queen name?).

3. 3 3. I used to want to be a dancer on Solid Gold (remember that show?).

4. 4 4. I like crazy movies like Zoolander, Dumb and Dumber and Blades of Glory. Aileen says I’ll probably like Super Bad too. I think she has said that watching these movies with Bryan and me make them funnier for her – we must have twisted senses of humor because lots of people don’t like those movies. These aren’t necessarily my favorites, just some that I enjoy laughing at.

5. 5 5. I have a true soft heart for animals and it’s all I can do not to have more than I currently have. I even think opossums are cute. Have you heard the story of my opossum baby rescue? I’ll share sometime.

6. 6 6. I love living here in Charleston with the proximity to beaches and having access to the water. However, I will pick a pool any day over the beach if I’m going by car. Going by boat – the Beach rocks! It’s the sand in the hot, sticky car on the ride home that is gross is what I don’t like.

7. 7 7. When I was younger (read: before I went to college) I thought I hated pluff mud. Upon my first visit back home my freshman year in college I couldn’t get enough of that fantastically intoxicating, semi-decaying smell of pluff mud. It is now one of my favorite smells.

8. 8 8. I need to work out more. I was pretty religious about it for a while, but I think it’s been officially a year since I’ve done anything to really speak of. I hate exercising just for the sake of exercising. What happened to dance class because I like it, or track because it was fun, or cheerleading camp, or riding bikes for an excuse to be with your friends playing outside? Etc? etc?

9. 9 9. I don’t just love, but I am in love, with my husband and children.

10. 10. My birthday is next Saturday – 39. Not 40 yet! Though in my mind I don’t think I ever will be – in my mind I’m stuck somewhere around 25.

March Showers bring May Puppies

Haven't posted since our fun Spring Break "quickie" to Myrtle Beach - pictures will be coming - the kids had a ball.
But I thought now would be an o.k. time to let you know our fun new news...

Some of you may know that Bryan and I have been talking about getting a puppy to add to our furry brood. Well, looks like we're going to have a litter. If we can find them all homes hopefully we'll only have a litter for 8 weeks or so, but one never knows.

Seems as if when Willis got "fixed" when we adopted her, she didn't really get fixed - or it didn't take. They always say there's that chance - but that never happens to us, right?!
I noticed not long ago that she's had an odd place at the base of her tail, and wondered what it was. I just assumed she'd been getting under the car and it was an oily spot. And now, several weeks later, after a trip to the vet because she's been acting odd and getting fat, we have been told that we're going to be Grandparents.

WHAT!! This isn't some poisoning that can wear off? I like to think I'm a bit more science savy than being blindsided like this! How did I not see it?

No, I never noticed a heat - why would I? I wasn't looking for it, after all - SHE'D BEEN FIXED! And though she has had a rare few occasions where she has gotten out and visited down the street, I had no idea! And I have no idea who Dad is either!

Well, the vet has told us that these bundles of joy should be with us in approximately 1 month. Canine gestation is about 60-64 days and she's already half way through. So, come the end of May, if anyone you know wants a cute puppy (a mix of Lab and whoknowswhat) we'll have several ready to go to good homes. Hopefully I won't have to take them to the pound - that would break my heart. I'll keep you all posted!
