Summertime

Recouperation is going well.
I was afraid one of my puncture wounds was going sour on me, but after yesterday's doctor's visit I got the all clear on it. Just need some watered down hydrogen peroxide for cleaning for the next few days.

I'm excited that it's summer (even though we have already had so many summertime showers that it's CRAZY!), and have tried a "summer sherbert" look here.

It may get on my nerves and I may move it back to the refreshing blue. I may even try some more colors right after this is posted.

I am a bit disappointed that there are not any more colors to choose from on the template page. I can't quite get the actual color I'm looking for.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Not that I wouldn't have thought to post something nice about my Dad, but I got the inspiration for this post straight from the pages of Nothing But Bonfires. You guys know me, I read these blogs like most people would read a magazine. I started reading this blog souley due to a conversation with someone regarding our reading and enjoying another blogger's page. He recommended I follow the link to Nothing But Bonfires for some more enjoyable internet reading. So, Daddy - after stealing an idea from the other blog - this is for you!

Daddy

I am so thankful for the many things you have done for me over the years. So many have made fond memories and good laughs.

Starting with….

Accidentally letting me have my first drink of beer from your cup when your back was turned when I was approximately three. “Mmmmm…..good, Daddy – want more!”. I still love a tasty cold beer to this day.

Bathing me (and Joe) as a nighttime family ritual. There was always lots of picking up water to create a pool in your hands (they seemed so HUGE to us as children) and letting the water fall and sometimes trickle back to the tub – so much fun. We were always amazed that you could hold water in your hands for so long.

Brushing my wet, freshly shampooed hair ever so gently to get it untangled. (My daughter even requests Paw Paw for the brushing of her tangled, wet hair).

Teaching me how to fish and pretending that I skunked you and Uncle Charlie. O.K. so maybe I did catch more fish than you guys, but that’s easy to do when you can’t get a line in because of re-baiting mine or handing me the rod when there was a fish on.

Dealing with me as I almost fainted in your hospital room the night of your heart attack. You knew that was just how I was handling things and laughed with me when I started feeling less weak.

Paying for my wedding to Bryan (thanks – that was certainly worth it).

Not panicking with me on the phone the night I called you and Mom on your vacation (o.k. it’s considered morning at 3:30 am) to let you know that I was hemorrhaging and going to the hospital to have Legare three weeks early. If you had shown any sign of panic I may have fainted! I certainly would have wigged out a bit more than I was.

So many more – but such a short amount of time before the day gets started – so these will have to do for now.

I love you, Daddy (we all do) – HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

And it’s too bad I didn’t steal an idea like this for a Mother’s Day blog post. Cause Mom was sure there for so many things and memories too (like handling the details of the wedding and dealing with me on those often occasions as a child when my blood sugar would leave me and cause me to faint – including the most recent one a year ago when I monkeyed because of Julia’s thumb. I love you too, Momma!)

Uninspired

I'm inspired to write absolutely nothing in particular.
But I feel like I've done a relatively good job of "staying regular" as of late and felt like there needed to be something new to read.

...I just don't know what that is going to be.

Life has been relatively normal, easy going, with nothing earth shattering, cute or exciting to report. There has been another death in the family this week (the 3rd funeral for me since November), but that certainly doesn't promote smiles on a rainy, dreary, post day.

So, for lack of something better to post: this - lack luster, conglomerate of words - is unfortunately going to be my post for the week.

Maybe I'll go to You Tube to try to find a funny video to inbed......
O.K, found one. Even if you don't like cats, this will be sure to make you giggle at least once.

Having a Good Day

I get morning prayers from a friend and sometimes I share them with others.
Today I thought I would share it here.

Each day a prayer is offered with a Bible verse to go along with it. Sometimes I love the prayer, sometimes the verse and sometimes both.

I liked both today, but I especially liked the verse from Job. I have found it to be especially true.

I hope your bad days can forever be turned around!

Ramblings

School is out. But we're still busy.
Swim meets, swim practice, play dates, unclogging drains, etc, etc.

I promise to post pics soon: some of Legare kicking some karate butt - I mean karate boards, the fun at the end of our cul-de-sac yesterday, and a few pool pics.

Just wanted to say I missed my anniversary - the Blog anniversary. As of June 18 - I have been on for a year. Wow, doesn't feel that long. The wedding anniversary is coming Monday - 13 years.

Thanks for keeping up even though I haven't been as consistent since our move. I'm still trying to get our office straight - I feel like it's waist deep in papers. O.K. - maybe not that bad - but it's driving me nuts.

We are going out of town Wednesday morning for a few days. Taking the children to the Biltmore mansion then for a ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad that will take us to the Nantahala Outdoor center. From there we will do some white water rafting back to the train station and then spend a night in Cherokee. With all of this stuff going on - the children are actually looking more forward to seeing Indians in Cherokee over any of the other things we're doing. We'll see what their favorite parts are once it's all said and done.

The Alligator

This is the alligator that lives in our small irrigation pond. He's a little longer than my leg, and not any bigger around. I haven't seen him since it's gotten a bit colder. I'm sure we'll see him sunning himself soon.

The Geese

Periodically we have a flock (or flocks) or geese that take a break from their migration to rest in our field. They do it with yearly regularity. This time, I had my camera to catch a few shots. They didn't seem to mind me stopping to take some snaps of them.

As a matter of fact, some of them actually took a pose for me.
